New Director of ATOUT FRANCE Keen to Spur Travel Demand with New Concepts While Forging Stronger Relationship with Travel Agencies
Fredric Meyer, who is a new director for, expressed his determination on January 27 at the reception hosted by the Development Agency, saying, “I would like to offer new ideas to promote travel to France.” Since he took his office at the end of last year, he continued, he found that Japanese people are very quality-sensitive and their craving for ‘learning’ is enormous. As new approaches to the tour planning, he suggested wine and food, history, French lifestyle experience, and acquirement of knowledge. He said, “France is full of famous historic sites, and there are a plenty of places of interest other than those.” He is prepared to inform unknown spots worth visiting in Paris, among others, to generate new demand, he added.
To the attendees of the reception who were mostly from travel industry, he said, “On behalf of the France Tourism Development Agency, I would like to express our appreciation for your cooperation in the past and are looking forward to your continued support. You can rely on us for new ideas and concepts for promoting France as the destination.” He further assured that his organization will further strengthen the relationship with travel agencies built up by his predecessor Catherine Oden.
