Japan Airlines (JAL) has begun sale of normal discount tickets for the Haneda/Honolulu portion that goes into service at the end of coming October, setting its price level higher than the equivalents of Narita departure. JAL Public Relations Office says the pricing was made taking the Haneda’s geographical advantages and expected demand into account. The Haneda-originating Dynamic Saver Fare on economy class is sold at 65,000 yen or more, 10,000 yen higher than that from Narita. In case of JAL Business Saver 14 on business class, the price is 215,000 yen and up, 15,000 yen higher than that from Narita.
With reference to the service to Seoul so far operated as scheduled charter flights from Haneda, the fare is now raised to exceed Narita departure. On the other hand, JAL has kept the fares of Haneda departure bound for San Francisco, Paris, Singapore, and Bangkok at the same level as those from Narita.
Meanwhile, All Nippon Airways (ANA) has marked up the fares of the scheduled charter flights from Haneda to surpass those from Narita. The same policy will be upheld with other flights inaugurated from Haneda at the end of October. The price differentiation from Narita flights was effected because of easy access to the Haneda airport, good time slots of departures, and prospect of strong leisure demand. ANA maintains that their price levels duly reflect the market potentiality.
ANA’s “Economy Discount 7” (economy class) fare for Haneda/Honolulu starts from 64,400 yen and “Business Discount 14” (business class) fare for the same portion start from 214,400 yen, giving the same amount of premium to Haneda flights as JAL does. “Super Economy Discount” for Haneda/Los Angeles starts from 61,400 yen which is 12,000 yen higher than Narita departure. The airline has not started yet the ticket sale of Haneda/Singapore and Haneda/Bangkok, but it is assumed to be working for higher price setting on those flights than Narita departures.
JAL began on July 8 the ticket sale of normal discount fare of economy and executive classes for autumn/winter season, so did ANA on July 2 for the destinations of North America, Hawaii, and Europe.
