JAL Group April International Passenger Loads Down 4%, Registering
Year-on-Year Decrease Except for Korea
Early-June 2008
The JAL Group carried 963,140 international passengers during the
month of April 2008, posting a 4.1% yea-on-year decrease with average
seat load factor of 64.7%. Available seat kilometers (ASK) declined
by 3.2% to 6,586,809 seat kilometers and revenue passenger kilometers
(RPK) further dropped 4.9% to 4,261,976.
By routes, Korea edged up 1.1% to 137,210 passengers from the
year-ago month, but all the other routes swung to a decrease compared
to the same month a year earlier, except that while ASK of the Europe
and Southeast Asia routes declined by 9.4% and 3.6% respectively,
those of RPK decreased less by 6.8% and 2% respectively, therefore
indicating that the demand slightly exceeded the supply on these two
routes. Domestic passenger number edged down by 1.7% to 3,122,909
with average seat load factor of 58.4%.
