Tourism Charters Overseas Cruise for First Time in Industry to
Explore New Market
Mid-February, 2008
Club Tourism International Inc. is going to charter a cruise of
Silver Whisper, a ship of Silversea Cruise's luxury fleet, and began
sale on February 10 of a Japan-based cruise tour, as a program of
Marunouchi Club's extravagant tour lineup.
The eight-night-nine-day cruise starts from and comes back to
Yokohama, making a call at Yakushima Island and Taiwan. The tour
accepts up to 382 participants and when it is booked to capacity, the
revenue becomes 300 million yen.
The Silver Whisper is making her first call at Japan this time.
Yoshinobu Koyama, executive officer of Club Tourism, commented on the
Silver Whisper cruise, saying, "We are confident that this cruise is
very much entertaining and meets the tastes of wealthy people in both
aspects of facilities and services."
Marunouchi Club organized a number of cruises in the past on
Asuka I, Asuka II, and Nippon-maru on charter basis; however, the
affluent subscribed members who love cruise are noticeably decreasing
in number as their ages advance. The Club, therefore, is keen to
explore new wealthy clientele who can afford to buy a cruise, and
after careful study of several ships, it selected Silver Whisper as
the liner to charter.
Marunouchi Club made a new landscape type of tour brochure for
sales promotion and distributed it to 70,000 club members. It invites
some of them to a party commemorating this project.
