Yokohama International Fireworks, Kanagawa
The Yokohama International Fireworks and the Yokohama Port Festival (横浜港開港記念みなと祭 国際花火大会) marks the conclusion of the annually held Kaikoukinenn Minato Festival. This festival commemorates the opening of Yokohama City port to foreign ships for the purpose of international trade beginning May 2, 1859.
It promises 7,000 fireworks, which will light up the night sky above the sea around Yamashita Park. One of the two biggest firework displays in Yokohama beside the Kanagawa Newspaper Fireworks drawing around 500,000 people in one night. Children, women and couples in colorful yukata (a summer kimono) wander around the port on the day of fireworks.
